Wendi Mae Davidson Interview
The first time she’s talking about the murder and her life in prison.
In an interview with ABC’s 20/20, Davidson said that she did not kill her husband, Michael Severance and that she wanted the world to know her side of the story.
After pleading not guilty to first-degree murder and two charges of tampering with evidence in October 2006, she maintains her innocence.
“I did what I did, and I think it was a terrible mistake. There were better options available to me at the time.
But I didn’t kill him once everything was said and done “In a sneak peek at his upcoming prison interview, Davidson declared:
BACKGROUND
In January 2005, Davidson filed a missing person report for her husband, Air Force Staff, Sergeant Severance.
Later, his body was discovered in the water on the ranch, about 20 miles from San Angelo, Texas, where the couple had been residing for two months.
Severance had been poisoned with animal tranquilizers and then stabbed 41 times following his death, according to the toxicology results.
Davidson worked as a veterinarian.
The day before he went missing, she told authorities, her husband told her he was worried about being deployed and that “something horrible will happen.”
Severance had already served five tours in the Middle East and was gearing up for his sixth when he vanished.
Davidson had a child from a previous marriage, and the couple had recently celebrated the birth of their first child together. Stress from family and job was weighing down Severance, she said.
The three-hour roundtrip commute to work for Severance, according to Davidson, prompted him to take caffeine tablets, and she claimed to have observed him drinking every afternoon.
Despite the lack of evidence, he was suspected of having a drug problem.
After opening a new clinic and caring for two newborns, she explained to 20/20 that she was “busy” at the time of the interview.
My initial reaction to this situation was that it was typical, but now that I’ve reflected on it, I’ve come to realize that it wasn’t the case.
However, because Air Force OSI was on vacation at the time of the disappearance, the San Angelo Police Department, Texas Rangers, and Air Force Office of Special Investigation (OSI) began to investigate the case.
Due to Severance’s non-appearance, OSI was able to assume control of the inquiry and declare him a deserter.
There was a break in the investigation in February 2005, a month after he was reported missing.
A tracking device placed in Davidson’s automobile was possible because of the belief that she was assisting Severance evade capture.
They discovered that she had been at a distant ranch known as Four Sevens Ranch while they were looking for her.
Both the residence of the Davidson family and the Davidson veterinarian business had been searched by the San Angelo Police Department and the OSI.
Suspicious searches included “water decomposition” and “decomposition of a human corpse.”
For the sake of her husband’s disappearance, Davidson stated that she was looking into this topic.
Davidson called her brother, Marshall Davidson, a game warden at the time, after the police interview.
It’s been alleged that Severance was discovered dead in the living room and put into a pond at Four Sevens Ranch, but she maintained her innocence.
As a result, she couldn’t tell Marshall that Marshall was a police officer. They all went to her house with their parents to talk things out, but when Marshall got there, he contacted the cops to report what she had said to him.
Wendi After moving the body to the water, Mae Davidson says she stabbed it and weighed it down with cinderblocks.
This was late at night, and I’m trying to connect weights to this body, you know, can’t really see,” she explained.
This is what I came up with: “I figured out that air was what made bodies float so I figured out how to get rid of it.”
Davidson was arrested and charged with first-degree murder and two charges of tampering with evidence when the body was found.
Before a toxicology analysis proved that Severance had been poisoned by animal tranquilizers that Davidson had access to in her clinic, she was bonded out of jail.
“I believe that my spouse was a victim, and I believe that my children were victims,” she stated. This is a tragedy for Mike’s family, I believe.
