Najee Harris (born March 9, 1998) is an American football running back for the National Football League’s Pittsburgh Steelers. He was drafted in the first round of the 2021 NFL Draft by the Steelers after playing collegiate football at Alabama.

Harris was born and raised in the San Francisco Bay Area. He grew up in numerous problematic neighborhoods as one of five children of a single mother, including a stint in a homeless shelter when he was in middle school before the family moved to Antioch.

Harris rushed for 2,263 yards and 23 touchdowns as a sophomore in 2014. He rushed for 2,744 yards and 36 touchdowns as a junior. He rushed for 2,776 yards and 34 touchdowns as a senior.

In 2015, he committed to the Alabama Crimson Tide. Since Bryce Brown in 2009 and Leonard Fournette in 2014, Harris has been one of the most highly touted running back recruits. He’s been compared to Adrian Peterson by a number of recruitment specialists.
