When did Taylor Hawkins join Foo Fighters?
Taylor Hawkins Joined the Foo Fighters in 1997.
A friend at the time, Grohl reached out to Hawkins for advice on finding the band’s next drummer.
Given that Morissette was a bigger name than the Foo Fighters at the time, Grohl assumed that Hawkins would remain in the touring band.
Hawkins, to Grohl’s astonishment, volunteered to join the band and explained that he wanted to be a drummer in a rock band rather than a soloist.
On March 18, 1997, the band announced that Hawkins will be their new drummer.
Additionally, Hawkins contributed vocals, guitar, and piano to a number of records, in addition to his work with the Foo Fighters. When Pink Floyd’s “Have a Cigar” was covered by him, he sang lead vocals.
Both the B-side to “Learn to Fly” and the Mission: Impossible 2 soundtrack album included this song.
Aside from “Cold Day in the Sun,” which was released as a single as part of In Your Honor, he also delivered lead vocals on “I Feel Free,” a cover by Cream that featured on the B-side of “DOA” on the EP Five Songs and a Cover.
“Life of Illusion” was also sung by Hawkins as the band’s lead vocalist. “Sunday Rain,” a song from the Foo Fighters’ Concrete and Gold album, was sung by him later.
Hawkins frequently sang lead vocals on a cover song during a Foo Fighters live performance. Since There Is Nothing Left to Lose, he has been acknowledged as a co-writer on every album the band has released.
On the 20th of March, Hawkins played his farewell show with the Foo Fighters before passing away at the Lollapalooza Argentina event.
