Where is Clint Capela Originally From?

Clint Capela’s roots trace back to Africa. His dad is from Angola and his mom is from Congo but he was born in Switzerland.

Capela’s parents divorced just months after he was born. His brother advised he switch to basketball as a 6-foot-3 13-year-old because he enjoyed soccer.

Capela first became interested in basketball when he met Swiss legend Thabo Sefolosha when he was a teenager.

Capela enrolled in the INSEP training center in Chalon-sur-SaAne, France, when he was 15 years old.

Capela began playing in the professional French league, LNB Pro A, in 2012, as a result of his work at the center, which is located just outside of Paris.

Capela spent two seasons in the NBA Development League before declaring for the 2014 NBA Draft.

Capela joined Elan Chalon in the French LNB Pro A division as a 16-year-old. In seven games, he averaged 2.3 points and 3.0 rebounds while playing 8.0 minutes per game.

He also participated in the FIBA EuroBasket 2015 qualification stages for the Swiss National Team.

The team was unable to participate in the event due to a lack of qualification. Capela won the French Pro A award for Best Young Player and Most Improved Player in 2014.

In Pro A, he averaged 9.6 points, 7.4 rebounds, and 1.8 blocks per game, while in the EuroCup, he averaged 11.2 points and 6.5 rebounds.
