Who Is Ted Hankey?
The Count, as Ted Hankey is known, is a two-time world darts champion. After beating Ronnie Baxter 6-0 in the finals of the 1998 BDO World Championship, Hankey became the first man to repeat as champion in the event’s history in 1999.
A mini-stroke during a match forced The Count to take a vacation from wrestling in 2012, and he hasn’t had nearly as much success since. Fans had mistakenly assumed he was inebriated.
Why Is Ted Hankey Going To Prison?
Ted Hankey, a professional darts player, has been sentenced to two years in prison by Chester Crown Court.
When he appeared at Warrington Magistrates’ Court in April, the former world darts champion pleaded guilty to sexually assaulting a teenage girl last year.
In September of 2021, Ted Hankey sexually abused a teenager. During the incident in Cheshire, the court heard that a darts player pinned down the boy with an “air of entitlement.”
According to Judge Steven Everett, Hankey would have disputed the charge “to the end” if he had not been filmed.
“As a result of this act, I believe I have developed PTSD,” Hankey’s victim testified in court.
After the press and the public had been ushered out of the courtroom, the video of the assault was shown to the jury.
The darts player was charged with intentionally touching a woman over the age of 16 in September last year.
On May 12, Hankey, a resident of Berry Hill, Stoke-on-Trent, came to the courthouse in a snood and a large red handbag.
