Kurt Zouma is a French professional footballer who plays as a center-back for Premier League club West Ham United and the France national team.
On April 20, 2013, Zouma appeared in Saint-Coupe Étienne’s de la Ligue final victory over Rennes with a goal of his own. At Lyon eight days later, he headed in Yohan Mollo’s corner to open a 1–1 draw in the Rhone-Alpes Derby.
Sochaux’s Thomas Guerbert broke his right leg and dislocated his ankle after a challenge by Zouma on November 7, 2013.
A fee of around £12 million (€14.6 million) was paid for Zouma when he signed a five-and-a-half-year contract with Chelsea on 31 January 2014.
Saint-Étienne loaned him out for the rest of the season. Against Bolton Wanderers in the third round of the League Cup on September 24, Zouma made his first competitive appearance for Chelsea, scoring the opening goal in a 2–1 victory.
On the 21st of October, he started his second Chelsea game and his first in the UEFA Champions League against Maribor, helping the team to a 6–0 victory.
