Chris Fischer is a Martha’s Vineyard, Massachusetts-based chef, and farmer. He is the spouse of Amy Schumer, a stand-up comedian, and actor.
Chris Fischer Career
With the help of his father and grandfather, Fischer grew up on a farm in Martha’s Vineyard.
He learned about food from his father and grandfather about hunting and fishing. While growing up, Fischer attended a two-room schoolhouse on Martha’s Vineyard, which has now been transformed into a police station.
He apprenticed with Mario Batali at Babbo in Manhattan when he first started his career as a chef.
Before returning to Martha’s Vineyard full-time in 2007, he worked at the American Academy in Rome and The River Cafe in London.
A five-acre property purchased by Fischer’s grandfather in the 1950s or the early 1960s was his family farm, Beetlebung Farm.
At Beach Plum Inn & Restaurant he served as executive chef and received the 2014 StarChefs.com Coastal New England Rising Stars award for his work.
A James Beard Award winner for his book The Beetlebung Farm Cookbook, which he co-wrote with Catherine Young, was announced in 2016.

Fischer married comedienne and actress Amy Schumer on February 13, 2018, in Malibu, California. On May 5, 2019, Schumer gave birth to their son, Gene.
Gene was initially given the middle name “Attell” as a nod to Dave Attell, but on April 14, 2020, Schumer announced in a podcast that his middle name had been changed to “David” after they realized “Gene Attell” sounded like “genital.
