Lancelot does come from a family of performers, his grandfather, Alexandre Simonet, was a theater director and his grandmother, Marie Perrin, was an actress.

Unfortunately, there is not much information regarding Lancelot’s personal life and to some extent, his career, but his father, Jacques Perrin on the parisian stage, delivered nearly 400 performances of José-André Lacour’s L’Année du bac (starting in 1958).

Italian filmmaker Valerio Zurlini cast him in his first juvenile film appearances, and he quickly became one of his favorites. In the romantic comedy La Ragazza con la valigia, he co-starred with Claudia Cardinale, and in Family Diary, he co-starred with Marcello Mastroianni.

He later appeared in Henri-Georges Clouzot’s (The Truth, 1960) and Mauro Bolognini’s (Corruption, 1963) films, as well as starring parts in four Pierre Schoendoerffer films: La 317e Section (1965), Le Crabe-tambour (1977), A Captain’s Honor (1982), and Là-haut, un roi au dessus des nuages (1985). (2004). He appeared in two Jacques Demy musical films: Rochefort’s Young Ladies (1967).

Both films starred Catherine Deneuve, including Donkey Skin (1970). In the international hit Cinema Paradiso, he played the mature Salvatore.
