Christopher Pratt Ex-wife, Who Is Mary Pratt?

Christopher Pratt’s married his ex-wife, Mary Pratt in 1957. They married for 48 years until their divorce in 2005. Christopher met Mary at Mount Allison University.

As a child growing up in rural Newfoundland, Mary Pratt’s artwork was inspired by the everyday objects of her life: jelly jars, apples, foil, and brown paper bags.

When she painted, Pratt’s approach was strong and flamboyant, creating vivid and realistic images of her subject. She may have had a greater impact on influencing our perceptions of the world than any Canadian painter since the Group of Seven because of her ability to transform the banal into something beautiful.

In the late 1960s, Pratt discovered that light was her primary subject and decided to incorporate photography into her artistic process. The Bed (1968) and Supper Table (1969) are two of the early instances of her own style.

On the cover of Saturday Night magazine in 1978, Pratt’s painting Girl on a Wicker Chair was featured. First of a long line of paintings dedicated to Donna Meaney, the model and alleged mistress of artist husband Christopher Pratt, the subject of this series.

It was Donna’s husband that provided Pratt with some of the photos he used to paint Donna.
