According to the Ministry of Culture in Mexico City, Eduardo Lizalde, one of the most remarkable Mexican poets and essayists of today, passed away on Wednesday at the age of 93.
Lizalde was known as one of the most excellent Mexican poets and essayists of today. “El Tigre” has now departed from the residence. The Mexican poet brought to our attention the adage that “love is a fit of delicate anger that cannot be articulated in words.
” Today, we are unable to properly lament his passing since we are without the means to do so, but Eduardo Lizalde has left us a significant legacy in Mexican letters,” the institution stated on Twitter.
After his birth in Mexico City, Lizalde was called “the most important living poet in Mexico and one of the most prominent in the Spanish language” by then-Culture Secretary Mara Cristina Garcia Cepeda.
The author earned a degree in philosophy from Mexico’s National Autonomous University (UNAM), as well as a music degree from the National Institute of Fine Arts’ Superior School of Music (INBA).
Numerous honours and accolades have been bestowed upon him over his long and distinguished career, including the 1988 National Prize for Science and the Arts and the 2003 Garcia Lorca Prize in Spain (2013).
