Has Herschel Walker Resigned?
The Whitehouse has ordered Herschel Walker to resign.
President Joe Biden has requested two high-profile Republican Senate hopefuls to quit from a committee they were assigned to by former President Donald Trump.
According to many media sources, the White House wrote letters to Dr. Mehmet Oz and Herschel Walker threatening to fire them if they did not resign from the President’s Council on Sports, Fitness, and Nutrition.
Oz, a cardiothoracic surgeon, is seeking re-election to the Pennsylvania Senate. Walker, a former NFL running back, is running for the Senate in Georgia. Both are running for the Republican nomination in the primary elections in May.
CNN claimed that the two were asked to leave because it is against the administration’s policy to have federal candidates serve on presidential councils, citing a White House official.
In December 2020, as Trump was nearing the end of his presidency, Oz and Walker received their newest nomination to the committee, alongside sports legends like New England Patriots coach Bill Belichick and ex-New York Yankees pitcher Mariano Rivera.
A request for comment from Walker’s campaign was not immediately returned.
Sports engagement among youngsters and healthy and active lifestyles should be encouraged by the White House’s advisory council.
