Mathieu Simonet was born in Neuilly-sur-Seine, Hauts-de-Seine, France, on May 1, 1975. Days of Glory (2006), La bande du pharmacy (2002), and Le Temps d’Anna are some of his acting and producing credits (2016).
His grandpa, Alexandre Simonet, was a theatrical director, and his grandmother, Marie Perrin, was an actress, and they all came from a family of entertainers, just like his brother Lancelot.
Mathieu Simonet is the son of Jacques Perrin (1941-2022), an actor and producer whose true name he shares. In 1997, he made his acting debut opposite Bernard Giraudeau in Nina Companeez’s mini-series La Poursuite du vent.
He joined his father on the set of the documentary Le Peuple migrateur a year later, and then Oceans in 2010. Merci pour le chocolat, directed by Claude Chabrol, provided him with his first film role in 2000. In addition, he studied at the Paris Conservatory of Dramatic Arts.
Mathieu Simonet is a director in addition to being an actor. In 2004, he directed his debut short film, Le Carnet rouge, which was based on a Paul Auster short tale.
He directed Prunelle et Mélodie, a film featuring Julie Voisin and Maud Forget, six years later. This medium-length film was awarded first place at the Festival des Nations in Ebensee, Austria, in 2011.
