Nikola Jokić Named NBA MVP For the Second Consecutive Season.
Denver Nuggets’ 7-foot center player Nikola Jokic has been named for the second time in a row, NBA MVP. Nikola will beat two-time MVP winner Giannis Antetokounmpo of the reigning champion Milwaukee Bucks team to take up this award.
Jokic finished the league this season with a league-leading 19 triple-doubles. He is the first player to exhibit dominance in NBA league history as he bags 2,000 points with 1,000 rebounds and 500 assists in a single season earning him the nickname “Joker”. Nikola is now the 13th player of the NBA’s exclusive MVP back-to-back club.
“It’s just remarkable what he’s done, I know that I’m very biased, I admit it wholeheartedly — the MVP isn’t even a competition. There are other great players, I’m not saying they’re not great players, but what Nikola Jokic has done this year, with this team, with everything that we’ve had to go through, is incredible.” Nuggets coach Michael Malone recently said.
Born in Serbia on February 19th, 1995, the 27-year-old is now eligible for a supermax extension that is likely to guarantee him close to $254 million over five seasons starting with 2023-24, he will be making $32.4 million and will have the chance to a threepeat next season.
When asked how he would celebrate if he wins the MVP award here is what he has to say; “Probably with some music, beer, friends around, family,” Like how you’re supposed to do probably but if I don’t get it, I’m not going to die. I’m just going to keep playing, keep trying to play the right way like I did my whole life.”
Well, he won so he’s probably doing as he said. Chilling with music, beer, and some friends and family.
