Phil Hellmuth an American professional poker player, pundit, author, and actor, was born on July 16, 1964, in Madison, Wisconsin. He is now ranked in the top 100 on the “Global Poker Index.”
Phil attended Madison West High School and then transferred to the University of Wisconsin–Madison, where he matriculated before dropping out after three years to pursue his dream of being a full-time poker player.
In 1989, Phil Hellmuth rose to popularity after winning the World Series of Poker Main Event against former winner Johnny Cash. Hellmuth received his first WSOP bracelet, as well as a $755,000 cash prize, with his victory over Cash.
Three years later, in 1992, he received his second bracelet, bringing his total wealth to $168,000 dollars.
Phil Hellmuth has won 13 bracelets in total over his career, the most recent of which he acquired in 2012 for more than $1,051,190.
