Douglas Robert Ford Jr. is the 26th Premier of Ontario, serving from 2018 until the present, as well as a municipal councillor and a businessman.
Ford worked for his father’s company, Deco Labels & Tags, for the most of his career. He worked his way up through the ranks at Deco, finally succeeding his father as president.
Doug Ford was elected city councillor in the ward his brother had deserted to run for mayor of Toronto when Rob Ford campaigned for mayor and won in 2010.
Ford was elected leader of the Progressive Conservative Party of Ontario in March 2018. Ford became Premier of Ontario when the Ontario PCs gained a majority government.
Doug Ford was one of four children born to Douglas Bruce Ford Sr. and Ruth Diane Campbell on November 20, 1964 in Etobicoke, Ontario.
He’s lived in the Toronto suburb for his entire life. Scarlett Heights Collegiate Institute was where Ford attended high school.
He started working at Deco Labels and Tags, a label printing and adhesive goods company co-founded by his father, when he was a young adult.
Ford worked at Deco for much of his career, eventually succeeding his father as president. Deco’s growth in the United States was likewise overseen by Ford, who established offices in Chicago and New Jersey.
