Zvyagintsev was a Donetsk football player. In 1968, he was voted the USSR’s youth champion. The footballer has been a member of the Pitmen’s main team since 1970.

Over the course of eight seasons, he made 175 appearances in the orange jersey. In 1980, he and the club won the USSR Cup, as well as two silver medals in the USSR Championship (1975, 1979)

Three times he was named to the list of the best football players of the season, and he won bronze medals at the Olympic Games with the USSR national team
