Billy Bingham, full name William Laurence Bingham, was an international football player and manager from North Ireland. Billy was born on August 5, 1931, in Belfast in the United Kingdom. He died on June 9, 2022, at the age of 90.

Billy Bingham Career

Billy started his career with Glentoran football club where he was paid £6 a week. In March 1949, he made his senior debut in a match with Ballymena United. Whiles with the “Glens”, the team finished second in the Irish League that happened between 1949 and 1950.

Billy made two appearances for the Irish League representative team before he left the club. In 1950, Billy was signed to the Sunderland Association Football Club and was paid £8,000. Aside from playing football, Billy learned shipbuilding at the Sunderland shipyards.

Billy was very popular during his time as a player due to his speed and ball control. Billy played for Port Vale from 1963 to 1965 and then he retired from playing after he broke his leg in a match with Brentford on 5 September 1964. 

Who Is Billy Bingham’s Wife Rebecca Van Strang?

Bill Bingham’s second wife was Rebecca Van Strang. The pair were married in St. Albans a few minutes before a match between Northern Ireland and England.

Apart from Rebecca being known as the wife of Billy, there is nothing else known about her as she keeps a low profile.
