Julee Cruise was a singer, songwriter, actress and musician based in the United States of America. Julee was best known for her collaborations with composer Angelo Badalamenti and film director David Lynch.
Julee was born on December 1, 1956, in Creston, Iowa in the United States where her father was the town dentist. Julee graduated from Drake University where she studied French horn. She also performed as a singer and actress in Minneapolis with the famed Children’s Theater Company.
When Julee was through with her education, she relocated to New York. There, she worked with Angelo Badalamenti and played the role of Janis Joplin in a revue called Beehive.
Most of her songs have been used in advertisements and TV shows. Her song, Floating was featured in TV advertisements and trailers for the show The Riches, which started airing in March 2007. In 2008, the same song was used in CSI: Miami and in episode 12 of season 5 of Psych, “Dual Spires” where she sang a rendition of Psych’s theme song.
In 2012, her song “The World Spins” was also used in an episode of the TV show, House.
Julee, on March 28, 2018, took to her Facebook page to announce that she has systemic lupus, which causes her unbearable pain and has affected her ability to walk and stand. Unfortunately, she died from the illness on June 9, 2022, at the age of 65.
