Derek Stingley Jr. is a National Football League cornerback for the Houston Texans (NFL). He was drafted third overall in the 2022 NFL Draft by the Houston Texans after playing collegiate football at LSU.

The Dunham School in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, is where Stingley Jr. went to school. He recorded 27 career interceptions while in high school. He was named the Louisiana Gatorade Football Player of the Year as a senior in his final year of high school.

Rivals.com rated Stingley Jr. as the best player in his class and gave him a five-star rating. For college football, he has decided to attend Louisiana State University (LSU).

As a freshman at LSU in 2019, Stingley Jr. was a starter. Six interceptions and 15 pass denials as a rookie in the Southeastern Conference (SEC) earned him first-team All-SEC honours from the Associated Press (AP).

All-American accolades from the American Football Coaches Association, The Sporting News, Sports Illustrated, ESPN and USA Today were also given to him as a consensus All-American.

On January 6, 2022, Stingley entered the 2022 NFL Draft by submitting his name to the league.
