Lewis Tom Cine is a Haitian gridiron football safety with the National Football League’s Minnesota Vikings (NFL). He attended Georgia and was picked by the Vikings in the first round of the 2022 NFL Draft.
Cine was born in Haiti on October 5, 1999, and emigrated to the United States at the age of four, first staying in Florida with his family before relocating to Everett, Massachusetts. He began his education at Everett High School.
As a junior, he was awarded the Massachusetts Defensive Player of the Year by USA Today after compiling 65 tackles, two sacks, two interceptions, two fumble recoveries, and a blocked kick as Everett won its second MIAA state championship in a row.
Ciné relocated to Cedar Hill, Texas, to live with an uncle after the retirement of Everett’s coach at the end of the season, and enrolled in Trinity Christian School for his senior year. He was coached at Cedar Hill by Hall of Fame cornerback Deion Sanders.
Cine appeared in all 14 of Georgia’s games as a freshman, starting the final two. In his second season, he was named the Bulldogs’ starting safety.
Cine concluded the season with 49 tackles and 12 pass breakups in 10 starts before being removed from the team’s game against Florida after incurring a targeting penalty. Cine’s NFL Prospectus is detailed in his scouting report, which can be found here. Cine declared for the 2022 NFL Draft on January 15, 2022.
