Shane Keith Warne was an Australian cricketer who captained his country in the One Day Internationals (ODI). He is regarded as one of cricket’s greatest bowlers.
In 2003, he was suspended from the sport after testing positive for a banned drug. He was named Wisden’s Leading Cricketer in the World for the year 2004.
Shane Warne was born on September 13, 1969, in Upper Ferntree Gully, Victoria, to German parents Bridgette (Brigitte)and Keith Warne. From Grades 7–9, Warne attended Hampton High School before being given a sports scholarship to Mentone Grammar.
His first representative honours came in the 1983–84 season when he represented the University of Melbourne Cricket Club in the Victorian Cricket Association’s under-16 Dowling Shield competition.
During the off-season, he also played football. In 1988, he was a member of the St Kilda Football Club’s under-19 team.
After being delisted by St Kilda Football Club, he focused completely on cricket and joined Accrington Cricket Club in the Lancashire League as a professional player for the 1991 season. When he came to Australia, he began his international career.
He was later chosen to represent Australia in the Ashes tour of England. He took the most wickets in the six-Test series.
With a finger injury, Warne missed the full Australian summer in 2000–01. Warne was sent home from a one-day series in Australia in February 2003, a day before the World Cup, after a drug test during the series revealed a positive result for a banned diuretic.
Warne said that he only took one “fluid tablet”—the prescription medicine Moduretic—that his mother had given him to improve his appearance.
Warne received a one-year ban from organised cricket after an Australian Cricket Board commission judged him guilty of violating the Board’s drug code. Warne returned to competitive cricket following his ban in February 2004.
Warne was named captain of the Rajasthan Royals in the Indian Premier League in 2008 after retiring from international cricket.
Who is Shane Warne’s Wife Simone Callahan?
Shane Warne was married to Simone Callahan, his ex-wife, from 1995 to 2005. Simone is an Australian native who is 53 years old.
She is currently a yoga teacher in 2022 and lives near Melbourne, according to reports. Following a massive cheating scandal, Simone left Shane in 2005.
When reports that he had been meeting other women filled the press, she had just come to England to start a new life with the cricketer and their children.
However, they remained close for the sake of their children. Soon after their formal divorce in 2010, Shane began dating English actress Elizabeth Hurley.
