During a Whatsapp discussion that went viral, Morris made disparaging remarks about Barnard’s sexual orientation, prompting his firing last Friday.

An internal review conducted by Fox Sports decided that he had “crossed the line” when he used highly vulgar language to allude to Barnard, which the Daily Mail Australia has opted not to print.

Morris has offered a heartfelt apology for those remarks, as well as for another video in which he made insulting remarks against women, Asians, African-Americans, and homosexuals, among other things.

While Megan Barnard has remained silent following the firing of her colleague Tom Morris for a terrible video in which he exposed her sexual orientation, the Fox Sports broadcaster has spoken out after the incident.

She said;

I have been overwhelmed by the amount of support i have received over the past few days in response to the comments about me in the media.

To everyone who has reached out, thank you. Fortunately, I am at a place in my life where I am comfortable with who I am and I can handle something deeply personal becoming public.

But had  this happened as recently as few years ago, it would not have been the case. Coming out is a process and should never be taken out of someone’s hands. Nor should anyone be spoken in such a disgraceful manner.

I hope my existence can be a catalyst for change in not just the sports industry but in every industry.
