Who is American Sports Commentator Ryan Ruocco?
Ryan P. Ruocco is an American sportscaster who works for both television and radio.
Ruocco is the Brooklyn Nets and New York Yankees’ backup television play-by-play announcer. In 2011, he became a member of the Nets’ television crew.
He also hosts This Week in Football for the YES Network, which focuses on the New York Giants and Jets, and he does select college basketball games for YES.
Howard Cross, Gary Myers, and Ross Tucker were the analysts for his case. As the New York Yankees statistician, he joined the network in 2007.
In June 2015, Ruocco made his debut as the YES Network’s principal play-by-play guy, calling a series between the New York Yankees and Houston Astros.
Ryan Ruocco Career
Ruocco took over as the lead voice of the New York Yankees on the YES Network during the 2019 baseball season.
In addition to his normal Yankees broadcasts, Ruocco filled in for YES Network play-by-play announcer Michael Kay, who was undergoing vocal chord surgery.
Ruocco also stood in for WFAN’s iconic radio sportscaster John Sterling, who retired from his first radio broadcast after covering 5,060 consecutive Yankees games since 1989.
Ruocco also works for ESPN New York 98.7 FM and ESPN New York. He has been on The Michael Kay Show as a guest contributor and as a substitute host on numerous ESPN Radio broadcasts.
Prior to 2008, he worked for ESPN Radio as a fill-in host, hosted ESPN Radio SportsCenter, and was a correspondent for the NFL Network.
He also conducts play-by-play duties for The NFL on ESPN Radio with three other play-by-play guys, Marc Kestecher, Sean McDonough, and Bill Rosinski, beginning in 2013
. Ruocco also serves as the play-by-play announcer for NBA and WNBA games televised on ESPN. Ruocco is the WNBA’s principal play-by-play announcer.
Ruocco was the first play-by-play announcer to utilize the right pronouns for New York Liberty player Layshia Clarendon, who identifies as non-binary, when describing her baskets and rebounds in 2020, igniting a progressive and inclusive movement in gender standards.

Ruocco is a New York native who grew up in Fishkill. He attended Hackley School and Fordham University in Tarrytown, New York.
In January 2019, Ruocco got engaged to Andrea Ferzoco, private equity professional. Andrea gave birth to a girl named Everly in September 2021, after they married in a private ceremony.
