When was Estevan Florial Drafted?
Estevan was first drafted by the Yankees in 2014 as Haniel d’Oleo. Unfortunately, the contract was annulled after he was unable to submit a birth document and he re-signed with the Yankees in 2015 as Estevan Florial. Estavan Florial made his Major League Baseball debut with the Yankees in 2020.
In the Dominican Summer League Yankees 1, Estevan debuted as a professional hitter. In 57 games, he hit.313 with seven home runs and 53 RBIs.
For three different clubs in 2016, he hit a combined.227 with eight homers and 30 RBI, playing in all of their games in a total of 67.
The 2017 season began for Florial with Charleston. In July, he played in the All-Star Futures Game, where he was selected to play.
At the end of the season after making the leap from Charleston to Tampa in August after posting a.303/.368/.461 line with two homers and 14 RBIs in 19 games, it was announced that he would return to Charleston for the remainder of 2017.
The Yankees sent him to Trenton Thunder for the playoffs, but he didn’t play a single minute of it.
Florial was a top prospect in the lower leagues as he began the year. His season was cut short by three months due to surgery after breaking his right hamate bone while playing for Tampa Bay in May.
On August 28, 2020, Florial was promoted to the major leagues. That same day, he made his MLB debut in the first game of a doubleheader against the New York Mets. He was eventually returned to the minors.
Florial was called up to the Yankees on July 20, 2021, to replace Trey Amburgey, who had been sidelined due to injury.
On a groundout to first base, he got his first major league RBI, and then hit his first major league home run, a single shot off of Philadelphia Phillies pitcher Enyel De Los Santos.
