Colin Poche Biography
Colin Michael Poche, an American professional baseball pitcher for the Tampa Bay Rays of Major League Baseball, was born on January 17, 1994. (MLB).
Poche went to Flower Mound, Texas’ Marcus High School. He was 7-3 with a 0.21 ERA as a senior in 2012. He was picked in the fifth round of the 2012 Major League Baseball Draft by the Baltimore Orioles out of high school, but he declined to sign and instead attended the University of Arkansas, where he played college baseball.
He had Tommy John surgery in June 2014 and did not pitch again in 2015. He switched to Dallas Baptist University after two years in Arkansas. He had a 9-1 record with a 2.38 ERA in 16 starts as a redshirt junior in 2016. Poche was selected in the 14th round of the 2016 MLB draft by the Arizona Diamondbacks.
Poche signed with the Hillsboro Hops and spent the entire season there, going 1-2 with a 3.19 ERA in 31 innings. In 2017, he threw for the Kane County Cougars and the Visalia Rawhide, compiling a combined 3-1 record and 1.25 ERA in 50.1 innings of relief work.
He pitched in the Arizona Fall League after the season ended. He began the new year with the Jackson Generals. The Tampa Bay Rays acquired Poche as a player to be named later on May 1, 2018, to complete the Steven Souza transaction from February 2018.
