What is Joy Behar Famous for?
Joy Behar is famous for being the Co-Host of “The View” show talk show
When Barbara Walters and Joy Behar co-founded the ABC chat show The View in 1997, Behar was one of the initial panelists.
On the days when Walters was absent, Behar appeared only as a substitute host. On occasion, Behar would host a section called “Joy’s Comedy Corner” where she would feature both well-known comedians and those who were just starting out.
After more than a decade of nominations for the show, Whoopi Goldberg, Elisabeth Hasselbeck, Sherri Shepherd, and Barbara Walters won the Daytime Emmy Award for Outstanding Talk Show Host in August 2009.
An announcement that Behar would be leaving the show at the end of this season was made on March 7th, 2013.
Behar appeared as a guest co-host on the show during 2014 and 2015. This season’s 19th season premiered on September 8, 2015, and ABC confirmed on August 25, 2015, that Behar will be a regular co-host.
During a conversation about the 2015 Miss America pageant, Behar referred to Kelley Johnson’s costume and questioned why she was wearing “a doctor’s stethoscope”.
An outcry from the nursing community, including the hashtag #NursesUnite, followed Behar’s and co-host Michelle Collins’ comments.
