Ryu, who was born and reared in South Korea, has always enjoyed baseball. Ryu was picked as the number one pick in the Korean Baseball Championship League, which represents the top level of baseball in the country, in 2005, when he was 18 years old.
Until 2013, Ryu was a member of the Hanwha Eagles. He was a seven-time KBO All-Star, Rookie of the Year, five-time KBO strikeout champion, and more during that time.
He also competed for South Korea in the 2008 Beijing Olympics.
Ryu signed a $62 million, six-year contract with the Dodgers in 2012. Ryu made history in 2013 when he became the first South Korean to start a postseason game in Major League Baseball.
Ryu told reporters ahead of Game 2 of the 2018 World Series that he was looking forward to getting his chance to help his team.
“I was more cheering for my squadmates and making sure they’re in their best moods last year because I couldn’t make the roster,” he stated. But this year I have to actually perform… and I’m preparing for it.”
What Race is Ryu?
Ryu is originally from Japan but he represented South Korea National Baseball Team.
Can Ryu speak English?
Ryu is unable to communicate in both English and Spanish. As a result, there is a communication gap. It doesn’t matter what language you speak if you have excellent teammates; baseball is a universal language.
