Trent Thornton is an American professional baseball player who was born September 30, 1993, in Pennsylvania. He plays the position of a pitcher for the Toronto Blue Jays team of the Major League Baseball(MLB).

Trent began his non-professional career at Ardrey Kell High School in Charlotte, North Carolina. He then played college baseball for the North Carolina Tar Heels at the University of North Carolina. During his freshman year, he went 12–1 with a 1.37 ERA in 29 games. He played collegiate summer baseball with the Orleans Firebirds of the Cape Cod Baseball League in 2014.

In 2015, Trent was selected by the Houston Astros team in the fifth round of the 2015 MLB draft. He signed with them and made his professional debut that season with the Short Season-A Tri-City Valley Cats. He also spent the whole season there and in 2017, he pitched for the Corpus Christi and the Triple-A Fresno Grizzlies.

Trent was traded to the Toronto Blue Jays team in November 2018. He was added to the Jays 40-man roster a few days after the trading. He was made to participate in the Jays 2019 spring training where they announced that he had made the Opening Day roster in March. He made his MLB debut on March 31, 2019, for the Jays.
