Jon Rahm Rodrguez is a professional golfer from Spain.

He was the World Amateur Golf Ranking’s number one golfer for a record 60 weeks and later became the Official World Golf Ranking’s number one golfer after winning the Memorial Tournament in July 2020.

Rahm became the first Spaniard to win the US Open in June 2021.

Rahm was born in Barrika, Basque Country, Spain, on November 10, 1994. He received a golf scholarship to Arizona State University, where he obtained a Bachelor of Arts in Communications.

He won 11 college golf events there, second only to Phil Mickelson’s 16 collegiate victories in school history.

Rahm was the first player to receive the Ben Hogan Award twice, in 2015 and 2016. He also won the 2014 Eisenhower Trophy as the most outstanding individual.

During his junior year, he competed in the 2015 Phoenix Open as an amateur, finishing tied for fifth place, three strokes behind the champion.

Rahm became the 28th player to be rated No. 1 in the World Amateur Golf Ranking on April 1, 2015.

His first spell lasted 25 weeks, following which he surrendered, regained, and held the position for another 35 weeks.

He holds the record for the most weeks at the top of the rankings with 60. He reached the quarterfinals of the 2015 U.S. Amateur while ranked No. 1 in the world before falling to Derek Bard.

In 2015, he was awarded the Mark H. McCormack Medal, which qualified him for the U.S. Open and the Open Championship the following year.

A Pac-12 Conference championship and an NCAA regional championship capped his college career before he tied for third in the national championships.

At the 2016 U.S. Open, he was the low amateur and tied for 23rd place with a score of seven over par, his final competition as an amateur.
