Aaron James Judge was born on April 26, 1992, and is a Major League Baseball right fielder for the New York Yankees (MLB). In 2017, Judge was unanimously chosen as the American League (AL) Rookie of the Year and placed second in voting for the AL Most Valuable Player Award.
Judge was drafted by the Yankees in the first round of the 2013 MLB draft after playing collegiate baseball for the Fresno State Bulldogs. Judge had a record-breaking rookie season in 2017 after making his MLB debut in 2016 and blasting a home run in his first MLB at-bat.
Patty and Wayne Judge, both teachers in Linden, California, adopted Judge the day after he was born. His parents told him he was adopted when he was 10 or 11 years old; he recalls, “I realized I didn’t look like them.” His older brother, John, was also adopted. The judge is mixed-race. Judge grew up a San Francisco Giants fan.
Judge won his fourth AL Player of the Week award in his career during the week of May 10–17, most recently in September 2017. He was the Yankees’ second award this season, following teammate Corey Kluber, who was named Player of the Month in April.
