Nick Cave, an Australian rock artist, has confirmed the death of his eldest son, model Jethro Lazenby, 31.
Melbourne-based model and actor Jethro Lazenby had been freed from prison two days before his death.
“With great regret, I can confirm that my son, Jethro, has died away,” Cave stated in a statement today.
“At this time, we would want family privacy.”
In July 2015, Arthur, best known as the vocalist of Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds, died after jumping from a cliff near Brighton on England’s south coast.
Beau Lazenby, a Melbourne model, is Lazenby’s mother. He may not have met his father till later in his boyhood.
According to Australian press reports, Lazenby, 31, assaulted his mother on March 7 at her house in Collingwood, Melbourne, lunging at her and kneeing her in the face following an argument about purchasing him cigarettes.
He died seven years after another of Cave’s sons, Arthur, died at the age of 15. Arthur died after falling from a cliff near Brighton, England.
He was awaiting sentencing after pleading guilty to unlawful assaulting his mother, whom he kneed in the face after an argument in March.
The model was also expected to be charged with shoplifting.
He was out on bail at the time of his mother’s attack, having been arrested in 2018 for abusing his girlfriend.
According to Lazenby’s counsel, the 30-year-old has been diagnosed with schizophrenia, which has harmed his judgment.
