What Happened to Shireen Abu Alkeh?
A local journalist who was also at the scene Shatha Hanaysha was standing close to Akleh and recounted that there were no confrontations or agreements between the Palestinian fighters and the Israeli army reasoning that the group of journalists had been intentionally targeted.
“We were four journalists, we were all wearing vests, all wearing helmets,” Hanaysha said. She also stated that the Israeli army didn’t stop shooting even after their colleague had fainted and they were bent on killing them even as they had worn journalist vests.
Sadness and grief have filled the Al Jazeera offices as the news of the death of their friend and colleague have quickly spread with Palestinian politicians Hana Ashrawi and Khalida Jarrar who came to pay tributes.
