Xi Jinping is the President of the People’s Republic of China. He was elected as president in 2013 and has been in office to date. He s also the General Secretary of the Chinese Communist Party and the Chairman of the Central Military Commission.
From 1979 to 1982, Xi Jinping served as secretary for his father’s former subordinate Geng Biao, who was then the vice premier and secretary-general of the CMC. In 1982, Xi Jinping was sent to Zhengding County in Hebei to serve as a deputy party secretary of Zhengding County.
He was later promoted in 1983 to the position of secretary where he become the top official of the county. Xi Jinping served in four provinces during his regional political career. He enrolled at Tsinghua University where he studied Marxist theory and ideological education from 1998 to 2002. He graduated with a doctorate in law and ideology in 2002 from the University.
