Ernst Walder was born on November 17th, 1927 in the city of Salzburg, in the Austrian Empire. He is a well-known actor, renowned for his roles in Coronation Street (1960), Castle Haven (1969), and The Fourth Arm (1983).
He was Tony Warren’s partner for a number of years throughout the 1960s, the decade in which Coronation Street (1960) was first shown.
For a while, he was the proprietor of an antique shop on Notting Hill’s Portobello Road.
During the weekends, his on-screen wife Anne Cunningham, who was played by Weatherfield’s Linda Cheveski, would occasionally pitch in and help out.
After he finished his career in acting, he returned back to his home country of Austria.
He was one of just five members of the original cast of Coronation Street who was still alive until now. The other four are William Roache, Anne Cunningham, and Alan Rothwell. Philip Lowrie is the fifth (1960).

Ernest Walder died at the age of 94 in 2021 but his death was not publicly announced until 2022 when we all got hit by the sad news after a co-actor released a tribute for him. At the moment, his cause of death is unknown as there is no much data about his death available to us.
