Aamir Liaquat Hussain, a prominent television broadcaster and former member of the National Assembly (MNA), died on Thursday in Karachi, according to Geo News. He was 50 years old at the time.
According to the report, the former Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) lawmaker was discovered unconscious at his home in Khudad Colony and rushed to a private hospital in critical condition.
On Wednesday night, Hussain reportedly felt unwell but refused to go to the hospital. On Thursday morning, his employee, Javed, said he heard a scream coming from Hussain’s room. When Hussain’s domestic staff received no response from him, they broke down the door to his room, according to Geo News.
According to the Express Tribune, National Assembly Speaker Pervaiz Ashraf confirmed the claims and postponed the House’s session to commemorate the lawmaker’s passing. The House has been adjourned until 5 p.m. on Friday, according to the report.
The body would be taken to Jinnah Hospital or Civil Hospital for a post-mortem, after which it will be passed over to the immediate family, according to the police.
