Bowden Francis (born April 22, 1996) is a Major League Baseball pitcher for the Toronto Blue Jays. He is ranked 28th on Major League Baseball’s Top 30 Blue Jays prospects list for 2022.
Francis was born on April 22, 1996, in Tallahassee, Florida. The Milwaukee Brewers selected him in the seventh round of the 2017 Major League Baseball draft after he attended Chipola College in Marianna, Florida.
He made his professional debut with the AZL Brewers, pitching to an 8.10 ERA in four games. Francis was 7-10 with a 4.50 ERA in 26 games between the Class-A Wisconsin Timber Rattlers and the Advanced-A Carolina Mudcats in 2018.
Francis pitched for the Carolina Hurricanes and the Double-A Biloxi Shuckers the following season, finishing 8-9 with a 3.97 ERA and 165 strikeouts in 1422/3 innings.
Since the minor league season was postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Francis did not play in any games in 2020. Francis began the 2021 season with the Biloxi Blue Wahoos before being promoted to Triple-A Nashville Sounds in May. In 592/3 innings pitched over the two levels, Francis was 7-3 with a 3.62 ERA and 65 strikeouts.
