Chris Rock is a comedian, actor, writer, producer, and director from the United States. Rock began his career as a stand-up comedian and was able to advance into acting and producing as a result of his success and popularity.

In 1984, Rock debuted as a stand-up comedian at New York City’s Catch a Rising Star. He gradually progressed through the ranks of the comedy circuit, while also appearing in the films I’m Gonna Git You Sucka and Miami Vice.
Eddie Murphy befriended and coached the fledgling comic after watching his act at a nightclub. In Beverly Hills Cop II, Murphy cast Rock in his first cinematic role.

Rock was forced to schools in predominantly white Brooklyn neighborhoods, where he was bullied and beaten by white students. As he grew older, the bullying became worse, and Rock’s parents pulled him out of James Madison High School.
He dropped out of high school altogether, but he later earned a GED. Rock then worked at a variety of fast-food places doing menial labor.
