After a boat capsized in the Wilmington River, three bodies were found, bringing the total number of fatalities to five. The incident occurred early Saturday morning on the Wilmington River in Chatham County, North Carolina.
Christopher David Leffler was one of the five people who tragically passed away as a result of the boat accident that took place on Saturday on the Wilmington River in Georgia.
All of the victims of the accident have been named by the Georgia Department of Natural Resources. The following victims have been identified: a 51-year-old woman Christopher David Leffler, Lori Lynn Leffler, age 50, Zachary James Leffler,
age 23, Nathan Leffler, age 17, and Robert Steven Chauncey, age 37 all have been charged in connection with this incident. We have been informed that all five victims were locals to the Savannah area.
The Department of Natural Resources (DNR) reports that a man named Mark Stegall was detained and charged with operating a watercraft while under the influence of alcohol or drugs. At this moment, it is unclear if Stegall was to blame for the incident.
