Wong started all 59 games as a sophomore in 2016, seeing action at catcher, third base, and outfield. He hit .304/.415/.435 with five home runs and 30 RBIs, receiving all-conference first-team accolades in the American Athletic Conference.
That summer, he played 41 games with the Bourne Braves in the Cape Cod League, batting .313 with three home runs and garnering all-star honors. Wong began catching full-time during his junior year at Houston in 2017.
