Wong was asked to participate in the Red Sox’ autumn instructional league after the 2020 minor league season was canceled due to the COVID-19 epidemic. He was added to the 40-man roster on November 20, 2020.
Wong was assigned to the Triple-A Worcester Red Sox to begin the 2021 season.
He was promoted to the major leagues for the first time on June 22 and made his major-league debut as a pinch runner in extra innings against the Tampa Bay Rays.
