Emilio Delgado was a Mexican American actor, voice artist, and singer who was best known for his role as Luis, the Fix-it Shop owner, on the children’s television series Sesame Street.
He was born on May 8, 1940, and died on March 10, 2022. Delgado joined the Sesame Street cast in 1971 and stayed until 2016 when his contract was not renewed as part of Sesame Workshop’s retooling of the series.
With his poor extended family, he was raised in the house of his grandparents in Mexicali, Mexico. He walked to a public school in Calexico, California, every day as a citizen of the United States.
