Freddy Rincon was involved in a Car Crash that took his life.
After suffering severe head injuries in a car accident, former Colombia captain Freddy Rincón passed away at the age of 55.
On Monday, Rincón’s car crashed with a bus in Cali, Colombia, injuring him.
The medical director of the Imbanaco Clinic in Cali, Colombia, where Freddy Eusebio Rincón Valencia was being treated, Laureano Quintero, said that Rincón had died.
According to Colombia’s Football Federation (FCF), “we will miss him and remember him with great affection, appreciation, respect and admiration” upon his death.

Rincón was a dominant midfielder for Colombia, appearing in 84 international matches and scoring 17 goals in the process.
He was a vital member of Colombia’s golden generation, leading the country to three straight World Cup triumphs in 1990, 1994, and 1998.
Prior to joining Brazilian club Palmeiras, he played professionally for Colombian clubs Santa Fe and América and won national titles with each.
Before returning to South America, he spent two seasons in the Bernabeu with Real Madrid following a loan spell with Napoli in 1995.
In 2000, he led Corinthians of Brazil to the first ever club world championship victory under his leadership.
When a truck he was driving toppled on a wet road between Cali and Andalusia in 2013, Rincón was seriously injured. The collision left him with several fractures and a head wound, necessitating surgery.
