On July 25, the Yankees acquired Gleyber Torres from the Chicago Cubs as the biggest return in the Aroldis Chapman trade, giving them one of baseball’s best prospects.
Torres, 19, is a fantastic defender who hit.270 with 11 homers, 66 RBIs, and 21 steals in 125 high-A games for Myrtle Beach (Carolina League) and Tampa Bay last season (Florida State League).
Torres is one of eight Yankees prospects competing in the Arizona Fall League this season, and he made an immediate impact with a deep opposite-field homer in his debut and a walk-off hit in his second game.
Gleyber Torres Tattoo
Gleyber Torres felt it was time for a new tattoo in early October. While in Tampa for the Florida Instructional League, he acquired his 14th, all on his arms.
His new one is summed up in a single word: believe. “When I think of that word, I think of my family. Just trust me. It reminds me to have fun and play hard.”
Gleyber Torres’ latest tattoo was his fourteenth… and, as he put it, “the final one.” ” What’s the point of continuing now?” This one was quite painful.
It just took ten minutes, but I said, ‘Please, no more!’ His new one is on the side of his left hand, while his previous ones are scattered throughout both arms, the majority of them paying homage to what is most meaningful to him.
“Every single one of them is for my family.” I know who my mother is, who my father is, and who my sister is. They are all appealing to me.” His mother, too, is a fan of the art. “No, no, my father.”
