How did Gordon Lee Die?
Gordon Lee’s cause of death has not been revealed yet. The Families of Lee are yet to make a public announcement as to what caused his death.
Lee passed away on 8 March 2022 at the age of 87. Everton was managed by Gordon Lee from 1977 to 1981.
During his stint in command of Everton, the Cannock-born manager led the team to two FA Cup semi-finals and as many top-four finishes in the Premier League.
In 1981, he was dismissed as manager by Howard Kendall.
Everton’s George Wood, Dave Thomas, Brian Kidd, Colin Todd, John Bailey, Asa Hartford, John Gidman, Graeme Sharp, and Alan Irvine were all signed by Lee, who also gave debuts to Kevin Ratcliffe, Kevin Richardson, and Steve McMahon.
Lee got his managerial start with Port Vale, where he took over from Stanley Matthews and led the club to the Third Division.
He was then promoted to the Second Division with Blackburn, which encouraged Newcastle to sign him in 1975.
After being fired following a dismal finish to the 1980-81 season, he went on to manage Preston and KR Reykjavik.
After David Pleat was fired in 1991, Lee took over as caretaker at Leicester and helped the club avoid relegation.
