How did Yankees get Stephen Ridings?
It was through Eric Cressey that the New York Yankees got Stephen Ridings. Cressey forwarded videos of several of Ridings’ exercises to members of the Yankee front office after witnessing him train. After sending a scout to watch a workout, the team signed him to a contract in January.
The New York Yankees’ director of player health and performance, Eric Cressey, is said to have set up a gym for Ridings to train at, as reported by MLB.com.
When Ridings signed with New York, he immediately left the academy and went on to perform admirably in Classes AA and AAA, earning him a call-up to the majors the following August.
For the season, Ridings has made five starts and has allowed only four hits, two walks, and one run in five innings, compiling an earned run average of 1.80.
His strikeout total for the game stands at 7. After being promoted to Triple-A, Ridings was demoted.
In an interview with MLB.com, Ridings said, “This year has been just insane.” “My excitement at making the Double-A roster seems like it happened just yesterday.
The contrast between where I was at the beginning of the year, believing I could even get an opportunity to play baseball, and now being on the mound at Yankee Stadium is mind-boggling. “It’s crazy to see where I came from,”.
