How Many no-hitters Does Corey Kluber Have?

Corey Kluber has six no-hitters.

In a 2-0 victory over the Texas Rangers on Wednesday night, New York Yankees right-hander Corey Kluber recorded his sixth no-hitter of the 2021 Major League Baseball season.

Kluber’s no-hitter was his second in as many nights, following Detroit Tigers righty Spencer Turnbull’s no-hitter against the Seattle Mariners on Tuesday.

Kluber (4-2) has nine strikeouts in his four innings of work. In his ninth start for the Yankees, the two-time AL Cy Young Award winner struck out 71 of 101 batters, reducing his ERA to 2.86 and winning his fourth consecutive game.

He used 31 curveballs, 27 cutters, 23 sinkers, 18 changeups, and two four-seam fastballs, with his fastest pitch clocking in at 92.5 mph.

In the sixth inning, the Yankees scored both of their runs. Tyler Wade drove in Kyle Higashioka with a triple and then scored on a sacrifice fly by DJ LeMahieu. That was all Kluber needed to lead the Yankees to victory.

Kluber got Culberson to ground out, David Dahl to line out, and Willie Calhoun to ground out in the ninth inning. The Dahl play came the closest to being a touchdown, but the aforementioned Wade tracked it down without theatrics.

The Yankees have been without a no-hitter for the eighth time in the majors as of Wednesday. The last time a Yankees pitcher held the opponent without hitting was David Cone’s perfect game on July 18, 1999.
