How Many Oscars Has Jessica Chastain Won?
Jessica Chastain has only won her first Oscars. This makes her third nomination
Jessica Chastain has been named the winner of the Academy Award for Best Actress in a Leading Role in a Motion Picture.
Chastain won the best-actress Oscar at the Oscars 2022 ceremony on Sunday night for her role as televangelist Tammy Faye Bakker in The Eyes of Tammy Faye.
She thanked director Michael Showalter, costar Andrew Garfield, and the film’s hair and makeup artists, who won an Oscar for changing Chastain into Bakker, in her acceptance speech.
Spencer, Nicole Kidman, Olivia Colman, and Penélope Cruz were all nominated for Best Actress in a Supporting Role, but Chastain was the only one to win.
After winning a Screen Actors Guild Award and subsequently a Critics Choice Award, Chastain emerged as a late contender in this year’s awards campaign.
This year’s volatile race has seen competitors come and go over the course of an extended season, and her surge ahead was yet another reminder of this.
At this point, this is Chastain’s third time competing in the Oscars. For her supporting role in The Help, she was nominated for an Oscar that year.
The following year, she was nominated for a second time, this time for her performance in the thriller Zero Dark Thirty. Finally, Chastain has won a medal.
