How Many People Died In China Eastern Airlines Boeing 737?
A total of 123 passengers and 9 crew members (132 total) lost their lives in the China Eastern Airlines Boeing 737 crash.
According to the authorities, radio contact was lost with the plane as it flew over Wuzhou, in the Guangxi area. China’s southernmost city, Guangzhou, was the intended destination.
According to FlightRadar24, the flight departed Kunming at 1:11 p.m. local time (1:11 a.m. ET) and was scheduled to arrive at its destination in less than two hours.
According to the flight tracking service, the Boeing 737-89P airliner started to fall quickly at 2:20 p.m. local time.
In a report cited by CCTV, the provincial emergency management bureau stated that the plane crashed in Teng county near Wuzhou, causing “a mountain fire.”
The plane’s final destination, Guangzhou, was roughly 150 miles away from the disaster scene, thus it had already covered nearly 500 miles of its voyage.
Rescue teams have been rushed to the location, according to the report.
It was reported by one villager that the plane had “totally come apart” and that he had witnessed the destruction of neighboring forest areas by fire caused by the plane’s impact with a mountainside.
On Monday afternoon, local media reported that China Eastern flight MU5735 had not arrived in Guangzhou as anticipated after departing Kunming shortly after 1:00 pm, raising fears for the plane’s safety (0500 GMT).
