How Many Times has Rich Hill Signed With the Red Sox?
Rich Hill have signed for the Sox in his 4th time.
The Milton, Massachusetts native was signed to a one-year deal by the Red Sox on Wednesday. The deal is worth $5 million and includes up to $3 million in incentives, according to a source who spoke to MLB.com’s Jon Paul Morosi.
Hill, will be serving his fourth b stint with the team he grew up supporting for and his seventh free-agent contract with the Red Sox.
Hill joined the Boston Red Sox in the minor leagues on June 30, 2010. He was sent to the Pawtucket Red Sox of the Triple-A affiliate.
He pitched in 19 games for them, including six starts, with a 3–1 record and 3.74 ERA.
Hill was called up to the Red Sox major league roster on September 13 and made his main league debut the next day against the Seattle Mariners, retiring the only hitter he faced and earning the win.
On February 9, 2014, Hill signed a minor league agreement to return to the Red Sox. A spring training invitation was included in the contract.
Hill arrived late to camp because of a family situation, and as a result, he fell behind the other relievers.
On August 14, 2015, Hill agreed to a minor league contract with the Red Sox. He went 3–2 with a 2.78 ERA in five appearances for Pawtucket.
Hill was promoted from Pawtucket on September 8, and on September 13, he made his first major league start since 2009, allowing one run over seven innings while striking out ten batters and walking one.
Hill signed a one-year contract with the Red Sox on December 1, 2021.
