Christian Vazquez is a Puerto Rican baseball player who serves as a catcher for the Boston Red Sox baseball team. His full name is Christian Rafael Vázquez. He was born on August 21, 1990, at Bayamón in Puerto Rico.
Christian Vazquez was born to Rafael Vazquez, father, and Eileen Berríos, mother. He is the only child of his parents. He began playing baseball back in high school, that is the Puerto Rico Baseball Academy and High School.
During the 2008 Major League Baseball (MLB) draft, Christian was selected in the ninth round of the draft by the Boston Red Sox baseball team.
In 2009, he played in 21 minor league games for the Class A Short Season Lowell Spinners. He also played in two minor league seasons for the Class A Greenville Drive and in 2013, he played 96 games for the Double-A Portland minor league team.
He made his MLB debut in July 2014 for the Boston Red Sox team. The following year, he got an elbow injury and had to undergo a Tommy John surgery. He was then placed on the disabled list for 60 days. Due to the pandemic in 2020, he e missed the entire baseball season and upon resumption of the season, he became the primary catcher for the Bostons.
